Matthew has over 10 years’ experience in investment banking, and has provided Corporate Finance, Equity Capital Markets and Private Capital Markets advice to companies in the UK and Europe. He has been responsible for and advised on all stages of the deal cycle including origination, valuation, deal structuring and execution. He has been involved in all aspects of Asset Match’s development, particularly the structure of the platform, the trading and matching algorithms, and bespoke products.
He is also an active investor in private companies, focussing on tech-enabled businesses and platforms. Matthew holds a BA in Finance, Accounting & Management from The University of Nottingham.
Stuart started his City career 35 years ago on the London Stock Exchange and has gained over 30 years capital markets experience building profitable businesses. A former Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns Intl, Head of International Fixed Income responsible for trading, sales and research. Head of Debt at IBJ (trading, sales & research, 85 staff in 5 locations) in 1998. He was Head of Credit Trading at Nomura until 2009.
In 2000 he established Bracken Partners, an investment banking boutique, private equity investor and fund manager. He is a user and active investor in platforms, past and present involvement includes; Active Hotels, IG Markets, Bloomberg, Sportingbet, iProfile, Transact (Integrafin), and Interactive Investor (III).
Iain began his career at Strauss Turnbull and Co and has been involved in UK and European Capital Markets for over 35 years as a trader of both equities and corporate bonds, culminating in heading European credit trading as a Managing Director of Salomon Brothers. Iain was also a founding director of LBDP, a successful agency broker in European credit.
From 2003 to 2007 Iain was CEO of MarketAxess Europe, the leading platform for electronic execution in the credit market. He was responsible for all facets of the company’s European business and during his tenure MarketAxess saw a ten-fold increase in activity across the platform. Before founding Asset Match Iain was Head of Fixed Income at Christopher Street Capital.
Ben has over 15 years experience in the Financial Services sector having been a private client stockbroker for a boutique London brokerage trading both equities and derivatives.
He has an in depth knowledge of the UK Equity Markets, Private Capital Markets and trading platforms.
Prior to joining Asset Match, Ben was Head of Sales at BritDAQ where he helped launch their alternative secondary market.
Ben has been an integral part of the Asset Match team since 2014 with his main responsibilities being company on-boarding and driving liquidity through the platform. He is our primary contact to over 40+ brokers who actively trade on Asset Match and also to a host of key advisors.
On completion of a Law Degree at UCL in 1998 Oli started his career as a research analyst in the M&A team at Granville Markets. He then joined Salomon Brothers International (now Citigroup) in its Capital Markets division. In 2001 he joined private equity firm Bracken Partners responsible for evaluating and managing investments in online Platform companies including Active Hotels, the online hotel room booking platform, and Integrated Financial Arrangements, an online wrap platform for IFAs. Oli became a director of Merchant Capital in 2003 focusing on private growth companies moving to the public sector.
He has since helped set up emissions broking firm CarbonDesk, and as Corporate Development Director oversaw the firm’s initial fundraising and subsequent flotation. He is currently a director of Zespa Media and China Factor and an Associate Partner of Ironbridge Capital Partners LLP.
Modwenna is a graduate of St Andrews University. She has two decades of business experience working in corporate finance in the City of London and in business angel investment and venture capital. She set up her own business in 2003 as an online media and live events business. From £1,000 of start up capital working out of her front room, she has grown the business to become the leading information provider and commentator on the business angel market in the UK at www.angelnews.co.uk. In recent years her business has also launched Pitching for Management www.pitching4management.com, a live recruitment series, the VCT & EIS Investor Forum www.thevctandeisinvestorforum.com, The Great British Private Investor Summit www.privateinvestorsummit.com and The Great British Workforce Revolution www.workforcerevolution.co.uk.
She is a non executive director of Albion Tech and General VCT, which is quoted on the London Stock Exchange, a board member of the UK Business Angels Association and a Visiting Fellow at the Bettany School of Entrepreneurship, Cranfield University.
She is the author of Crowdfunding, How to raise money and make money in the crowd - a guide to operating a business in, raising money from and being an investor in the crowdfunding market. She is also the author of Dragons or Angels, the unofficial guide to Dragons’ Den and a handbook for people wanting to become or raise money from business angels. She regularly contributes articles to the press and has contributed to Business Gurus, which was published in March 2012 by Crimson Publishing.
